@naryldor The plane touched down at 125.2 knots in clean landing configuration.... Minus the landing gear.

"Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing." I guess we have to add "swim" somewhere in that.

@Snotra Well, I guess the captain reduced speed to the minimum, as close to stall speed as possible, I'm not an expert, every airplane is different and the speed varies depending on how much load the aircraft carries, but I'd say they hit the water at around 180-200 knots (200+ mph).

@jthdrummer71 If you mouse over that square, it reads "These are the Time Warner Towers"

I wonder what speed they we're clocking when they hit the water?

That is the most unbeleivable thing I have ever seen, no one died. How perfect was this pilots landing? He had to know exactly what he was doing or the plane would have desintigrated. Amazing

Sorry on the last post watch the STARBOARD wing

Posted by WELLBRAN on Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at 2:33pm
If you watch this closely you can see another unsung hero, the guy walks out on the wing in a white shirt, he slips and goes into the water, the guy on the end of the line, in another white shirt goes along the wing and pulls him back in, no one has ever acknowedged this man.

Sheer luck and a graceful landing. I ride NY Waterway all the time, been on the river in ice, and had the river been iced, it would have been catastrophic for sure.

What is keeping that plane there like that?

The twin towers were taken out on 911.
