What "they did" had everything to do with religious faith and affiliation. They had faith that they were doing an action justified by their religious Deity, and would be rewarded for these actions. They had so much faith in the "truth" of their beliefs that they were willing to die for these beliefs.
It is fallacious and arrogant to think that their religion was LESS true then yours.
All religions are equal glimpses of the same untruth.

i am a truly religious person and i would appreciate if you didn't associate my beliefs with those of a bunch of sick extremists that would set out to hurt that many people, what they did has nothing to do with any true religion

Readysalted80, think of the few thousand that did NOT phone in ill that day. In fact, the biggest miracle of 9/11 is that religious zealots were able to hijack not one plane but three and manage to get most of those planes to their targets.
How about think of the people who went to work after an argument with their spouse, never to resolve that argument.
or the daycare that was in the basement floor.

HA! omfg. first, he was standing on the train track with a train approching, pretty much in the middle of the road, then a truck driver drives over the train track probably without looking if there was a friggin train coming and they all pay for being imensley stupid. i mean im glad no-one died, but Jesus Christ! what would you expect!

I wouldn't call being in the midst of a train and truck collision miraculous. It may seem like someone "gave him a fucking miracle" but in the same breath one might also think that someone had it out for him.
Would it be as much of a miracle if you were to find out that he was suppose to be on vacation and instead came into work because someone called in sick?
